With a 2pm kick off on Sunday 16 July 2023, the first memorial football match to honour Elliot was played at Hemsworth M.W.F.C, Just Football MDC Stadium, Wakefield Road, Fitzwilliam, Pontefract, West Yorkshire WF9 5AD
This was very much a fundraising event whereby the proceeds will go directly to two very special charities, and honour two wonderful young men, Daniel Yorath and Gary Speed.
To honour the life of Daniel Yorath: Situated close to the city of Leeds, Daniel Yorath House (DYH) is a specialist neurobehavioural rehabilitation centre for people with an acquired brain injury (ABI). Opened in 1992, DYH was one of the first assessment and rehabilitation centres for brain injury in the UK and offers a range of flexible rehabilitation options within a modern and comfortable environment. Daniel Yorath House forms part of the nationwide network of rehabilitation support services provided by The Disabilities Trust.
Team Yorath manager: Terry Yorath
To honour the life of Gary Speed: Andy’s Man Club was established in 2016 by Elaine, Andy’s mum, and Luke, Andy’s brother-in-law. The aim of the club is to provide men with a safe space where they feel comfortable to talk and open up about their experiences is a room free of judgment.
Team Speed manager: Howard Wilkinson
Our very special guests included, Jon Richardson, Simon Grayson, Peter Swan, Alan Sutton, Bryn Law, Peter 'Stix' Lockwood, Andy Woodward, David Wetherall & Clyde Wijnyard.
Pictured below are those who are very generously sponsored and/or given up their time to make this wonderful event even more special.
Thank you one and all.
